Overview
Line managers decide their reports' leave, and HR can decide anyone's. Requests waiting on you appear on HR → Approvals, with a count beside HR in the sidebar, and you get a notification when someone asks.
Approving or Declining a Request
- 1
Go to HR → Approvals. Waiting requests are listed first.
- 2
Click Approve on a request, or Decline to turn it down.
- 3
When declining, write a reason. The person sees it with their declined request.
To decide several at once, tick the requests and use Approve or Decline above the list.
You can also approve or decline from the leave calendar: click a pending bar to open it.
Whose Requests You See
The tabs at the top choose whose leave is listed:
- My reports or My team: the people you line-manage
- Everyone: the whole firm, for people with access to HR records
Approving Beyond the Allowance
If someone doesn't have enough leave left, approving asks you to confirm with Approve anyway. Their balance goes below zero, and the leave still counts.
Cancelling Leave
To cancel leave that has already been booked, open the request's actions and choose Cancel leave. The days go back on the person's balance and they are notified.
HR can record leave that has already been agreed on someone's behalf with Record leave. It's saved as approved straight away rather than sent as a request.
