Overview
HR records sickness absence on HR → Sickness. Sickness details are private: colleagues only ever see that someone is off, never that they are ill. Each person can see their own sickness records.
Recording Sickness
- 1
Go to HR → Sickness and click Record sickness (or press N). You can also press CMD+K anywhere and choose Record sickness.
- 2
Choose the Staff member and the Start date.
- 3
Add an End date once they are back. Leave it empty while the absence is ongoing.
- 4
Enter a Reason, add any notes, and save.
To change a record later, for example to add the end date, open its actions and choose Edit sickness.
The Bradford Factor
The Bradford Factor scores sickness absence over time, weighting frequent short absences more heavily than one long one. The Bradford Factor column on the sickness list, and each person's HR page, show the score:
- Under 150: no concern
- 150 to 499: worth a conversation
- 500 and over: serious
Who Sees What
- People with access to HR records see everyone's sickness, the reason and notes.
- Everyone else sees only their own records. HR can switch to Mine to see just their own too.
- On the leave calendar, the dashboard and anywhere else in the app, sickness shows only as "off" to anyone without HR access.
