Overview
The portal includes six calculators for common questions, such as how much tax a company car costs you or the best mix of salary and dividends. They give an estimate from the figures you enter. Nothing you type is saved or sent to your accountant.
Opening a Calculator
Open Resources in the menu and choose a calculator:
- BIK calculator: the taxable benefit of a company car or van. Enter a registration number and click Look up vehicle to fill in its details
- Capital Gains Tax: tax on selling property, shares or a business
- PAYE cost: an employee's take-home pay and what they really cost the company
- Dividend tax: Corporation Tax and dividend tax for a company with one shareholder
- Salary and dividend: the combined effect of paying yourself a salary and dividends
- Multi-shareholder dividend: dividends across several shareholders and share classes
Using the Results
Each calculator works out its answer as you fill it in. Change a figure to compare options, for example a different salary or an electric car instead of a petrol one.
The calculators give estimates based on the figures you enter and the current rates. They don't know your full tax position, so check with your accountant before you make a decision.
At the bottom of every calculator, Message your accountant opens your messages so you can ask about your result.
